BJP leader Subramanian Swamy loves controversy. And he has created one again. He has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi recommending that he should “terminate the appointment of Reserve Bank Governor Raghuram Rajan effective immediately or when his term ends in September”.<\/p>\n

In his letter to the Prime Minister, Swamy has accused Raghuram\u00a0Rajan of “deliberately attempting to wreck the Indian economy”, and contends that the RBI governor is “mentally not fully Indian since he continues to renew the Green Card issued to him by the US government”.<\/p>\n

“These actions of Dr Rajan lead me to believe that he is acting more as a disrupter of the Indian economy than the person who wants the Indian economy to improve. Moreover he is in this country on a Green Card provided by the US government and therefore mentally not fully Indian. Otherwise why would he renew his Green Card as RBI Governor by making the mandatory annual visit to the US to keep the Green Card current?”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

People who follow Indian politics know that Subramanian Swamy and his firebrand politics cannot be ignored. He is dreaded by his political rivals. You may ask Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.<\/p>\n

In fact, a senior columnist has written: “When Subramanian Swamy makes you his enemy, you can bid goodbye to peace and tranquility. The powerful and the corrupt cringe when Swamy decides to anoint them Public Enemy No 1….”<\/p>\n

After his recent comments against Raghuram Rajan, there has been a virtual war between Rajan and Swamy supporters. Interestingly, both sides have cogent arguments to support their claims.<\/p>\n

Some say Rajan is probably the best thing that happened to the Indian economy in a long time. Many others beg to disagree; they say his allegiance lies with the Congress party, which brought him from Chicago to India as the chief economic advisor.<\/p>\n

The first thing that strikes me about his signature is his consistent illegibility. In all the samples I have, his signature is illegible. If Swamy’s name was not there under the signature (within\u00a0brackets), it would have been difficult to say who the undersigned is.<\/p>\n

According to signature analysis<\/a>, that when the signature is consistently illegible, it implies that the writer is telling the world: “You really should know who I am, and if you don’t, it is your loss!” In other words, the illegible signature<\/a>\u00a0is indicative of a certain arrogance and self-importance.<\/p>\n

Also, the loop-less signature and the vertical lines in it suggest that Swamy likes to make direct statements without beating around the bush. In fact, his handwriting suggests it is tough for him to be diplomatic.<\/p>\n
