The entire country is asking: What is wrong with West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee? Has she gone bonkers?<\/p>\n
A series of incidents since she assumed power in 2011 does indicate that there is something wrong with the chief minister. At least in the way she thinks.<\/p>\n
First, the AMRI fire incident, then her mindless statements<\/a> on the Park Street rape case.<\/p>\n Then her irresponsible comments on the murders in Burdwan, and then the attack on newspapers and TV channels that criticised her, then restricting all English newspapers in public libraries.<\/p>\n And recently, the assault on a university professor for a cartoon lampooning her.<\/p>\n Her friends as well as her foes have at least one thing to say about her: Mamata is “paranoid”.<\/p>\n For example, an article<\/a> by Ruchir Joshi in The Telegraph<\/em> says that Mamata Banerjee is perhaps “terminally infected by the Baam (Left) Front rot, by their poisonous paranoia, by their vengeful megalomania”.<\/p>\n In technical terms, paranoia is a thought process believed to be heavily influenced by anxiety or fear, often to the point of irrationality and delusion.<\/p>\n Paranoid thinking includes persecutory beliefs, or beliefs of conspiracy concerning a perceived threat towards oneself.<\/p>\n Because “paranoia” is a psychiatric term, I will desist from using it here. I shall stick to its generic cousins.<\/p>\n So, is Mamata Banerjee really consumed by irrational fears? Does she think people are out there to get her?<\/p>\n I hunted for her handwriting and found an official document on which she has signed. Here is what Mamata Banerjee signature has to say about her personality.<\/p>\n First off, some good things about her. Mamata’s signature is legible, which shows that the writer does not hide her motives. She is open about what she says and what she does. T<\/p>\n he best thing about legible writers is that they can be trusted. They are as they appear to be. As a result, the writer arrives at an incorrect conclusion and often lands in trouble.<\/p>\n Additionally, Mamata’s lower case a (at the end of her first name) is open from top. This open letter<\/a> shows that she often speaks without thinking about the repercussions.<\/p>\n In short, Mamata’s personality is strong, which is shown by her legible signature.
