Tarun Tejpal

Tarun Tejpal, the founder-editor of Tehelka, was accused of having sexually assaulted a woman journalist on Tehelka ‘Think’ Festival in Goa in 2013.

Although Tejpal has so far not spoken on the matter after it became public, an email sent by him to the victim says it is a “a bad lapse of judgment, an awful misreading of the situation.”

Initial reports in the case indicate that he has owned up to his mistakes, but at the same time he appears set for a murky legal battle ahead.

We got hold of his handwriting sample and this is what it reveals about his personality.

Tarun Tejpal's handwriting and signature

The objectional act and the gooey and lacrimonious apology letter indicate that the man is a drama queen. And his the right slant of his handwriting does confirm the man’s tendency to be highly impulsive.

It is possible that Tarun Tejpal finds it difficult to restrain himself from giving in to temptations or doing certain things in the heat of the moment — often without realising the consequences.

The smaller middle zone, thread connection, shows a fast mind. The tall upper zone indicates he is an intellectual person. But the height a more than normal. That shows that he is prone to be a narcissist.

The long downstrokes in the lower zone (such as letter y in you) indicate a determined person with a lot of material and physical drives. In fact, material needs are a big motivation for this man.

The wigwam like formations (an inverted V in ‘wish’ and ‘best’) in the writing shows a stubborn disposition and at times prone to deliberations. The handwriting pressure gives the impetus to many acts done in the heat of the moment (impulsivity indicated by the right slant).

The incomplete signature, uphill baseline of the signature, and the small middle zone point to his insecurities.

The refusal to admit mistakes initially is shown by Wigwam formations, and then the subsequent roundabout manner of an apology is deliberation shown by long initial strokes.

The signature has only his first name, which reveals that he considers himself a self-made man.

In his signature, the tall first letter T point to a person who can revel in the authority vested in him. He is someone who thinks he is far better than others. In short, an egoist and a man who won’t take no for an answer.
